A routine departure at Charlotte Douglas International Airport turned into an unexpected operational disruption on August 16, 2025, after a Frontier Airlines aircraft experienced damage during ground handling procedures. The incident led to significant delays for passengers but was safely managed without injuries or escalation.

What Happened on the Tarmac
The aircraft involved was preparing for departure from Charlotte to New York’s LaGuardia Airport when the incident occurred. As part of standard ground operations, external support equipment—including an air-conditioning hose—was connected to the aircraft to maintain cabin comfort while it remained parked.
During these procedures, the hose was unintentionally drawn toward one of the aircraft’s engines. Due to the strong suction generated at low engine power settings, the equipment was ingested and damaged.
